Proprietor & Director of Tennis
As a coach Hareen Wasantha has one of the very best track records, if not the best, in the country producing (and not just “working with”) elite juniors. He coached Ilge Alpay to a WTA singles world ranking of 746 with zero previous coaching experience, and Kieran Macarty who went on to achieve an ATP doubles world ranking of 578.
Ilge is now Principal of Tennis Avenue School, and Kieran is Programme Director at our sister Tennis Avenue Academy.
In the past decade Hareen's coaching achievements (alongside Ilge) are as follows:
- 37 National (Grade 1-2) Titles
- 16 Tennis Europe Titles
- 7 Players Ranked No.1 in GB
- 3 Team Tennis National Titles (remaining undefeated for three straight years).
All these players trained exclusively at Tennis Avenue from a very young age, and only the titles/rankings achieved during these players' time with Hareen have been counted.
As a player Hareen was ranked top 10 in Britain 16&U and 18&U and represented England in the Four Nations Championships. He was a member of the elite LTA School of Excellence at Bisham Abbey for two years, living and training alongside the likes of Miles Maclagan (former coach of Andy Murray), Andrew Richardson (coach of Emma Raducanu when she won the US Open), Colin Beecher (most recently captain of the Great Britain team at the United Cup in Australia) and Barry Cowan (now a Sky Sports commentator).
